WILDCATS

WILDCATS – Basketball club Formed in winter season 1988 after the amalgamation of Brorowa Bears & Nomads. The new committee with President Greg Hayes (Brorowa) & Secretary Elsie Allison (Nomads) strongly promoting junior development oversaw the forming of one of Whyalla’s biggest & most successful clubs.

From the early 90’s wildcats dominated the Woman’s A competition with players like Megan (Corbett) Shuster, Kerri (Pollock) Morgan, Donna (Mathews)Bridgeman, Jacquie Faulkhead, Fiona (Hobbs) Quinn, Helen Hill Sheri Agett, etc.

Wildcats won 10 consecutive premierships under the watchful eye of coach Jack Woodforde & Andrew Corbett in this era. Later the men twice claimed 4 x MA titles in a row, guided by Dean Plane & Peter Boundy. Chad Maclean and Scott Boundy are standouts sitting high on the all time MA MVP list.

Wildcats black & yellow uniforms have developed from the original handmade material to the sublimated mesh type, the 1st club in the WBA to adopt this style of uniform the Nomads green & Brorowa blue colours united to become the alternative tops in the early days but has now been replaced by an all yellow strip.
