CELTICS– Formed in 1965, and quickly gained a reputation as a strong club in the female divisions. In 1966 led by Wendy Cheeson they won their first Premiership in WB grade, by just 1 pt over the Panthers, another new club. The Following year the Celtic girls stepped up and took out the WA premiership took. They won 2 more WA premierships in the early 70’s, led by a young Lorraine and Joy Chandler.
Celtics did field Men’s teams but with less success.
At a guess the Celtics name came from the famous Bostons Celtics!!
Other names you may remember are:
Darryl Raneberg
Di Higgins
Joy Chandler
Almanac records show they ceased to exist after 1973.
